 Finest Mountain Resort.  Photo above taken July 2001: The San Lorenzo River directly in front of Fern River resort is a great place for kids and adults alike to wade, swim and play. When dammed as above the water is chest deep on adults and warm enough to spend the day in the water. Just above and below our beach the water flows causally at about 1 foot deep, some holes are over your head. This is ideal for kids to float on tubes and rafts. You can float down stream about 1 mile to the rail road trestle than walk back along a wide flat trail just above the river on the state park side. It is a good idea to bring water shoes or an old pair of sneakers since the bottom is sometimes rocky. Only aggressive hikers and swimmers should go past the trestle since you will need to know the trails to hike back and about 1/4 mile below the trestle the river goes into the gorge. You can bring your own floties or rent inner tubes at our office when available. There is no life guard and all river activities are at your own risk. |
